The second and fourth weekend of each month, Lowe's Home Improvement Store has a workshop for kids, Lowe's Build and Grow. Children are provided with a Lowe's apron, goggles, and upon completion of their project, a patch and certificate! During this summer, their theme is "Dreamworks", and each project has been from a Dreamworks movie. The one my four year old is working on is a Kung Fu Panda Building Tower.
These FREE workshops are alot of fun for kids, but they are inconspicuously doing a lot of learning, too. My older kids, who still love these workshops, are learning to follow directions and the importance of doing a job correctly. Little ones like my youngest still need help, but are learning important hand eye coordination and small motor control skills.
And they are all learning the pride of accomplishing something you can be proud of....
Home Depot also offers a similar, Free Kid's Workshops on the first Saturday of each month, from 9am - noon.
